2 Football Conditioning Myths Busted

Steve Morris asked:

Football conditioning, despite advances in strength and speed training, is still in the stone ages. Coaches, especially at the youth and high school level are absolutely clueless on how to actually set up a football conditioning program that, well, improves both football skill and football conditioning (or, football shape, as some say).

Two myths, that just won’t seem do die, continue to wreak havoc on football players’ conditioning programs. It’s time to kill these myths so you can get into legitimate football shape and do it the right way…even improving football skill along the way…

Myth 1 – Jogging is Good for Football Conditioning

This old myth is seemingly impossible to kill.

Jogging, it is said, is necessary to build an “aerobic base” of conditioning. Even though football is a game of short, intense bursts, these people believe that in order to get into football shape, we should train in a way that is an absolute complete opposite of how we play.

However, know this right now: Jogging has no place in football conditioning. None. Not as a warm up or as a cool down or anything in between.

There is no such thing as an aerobic base. In fact, it is insanity to train for an anaerobic sport by training aerobically! It’s like training for a Max Deadlift by doing sets of 50. Would you do that? Of course not! Why would you condition for football this way?

All you’re really doing is training your fast twitch muscle fibers to be slow. Not a smart idea.

Why does this still go on? Well, many coaches just don’t know any better. So, they simply have their players do what they were made to do when they were young. It’s an endless cycle of poor football conditioning programs that harms your ability to play.

Myth 2 – Speed Training and Football Conditioning Are the Same Thing

This one just kills me. Guys spend hours “sprinting” at top speed, with incomplete rest because they believe there is a way to train both football speed and conditioning at the same time.

Doesn’t happen.

Conditioning is one thing, speed training is another. When you are training for speed, you need to have complete recovery, have very specific amounts of volume, and it must be integrated with what you do in your strength training as well.

Conditioning is totally different. You do not allow even close to complete recovery, volume can be much, much higher, and, if you try to condition at full speed all the time, you will eventually pull a hamstring, calf or sprain a joint.

You must keep your conditioning and speed training completely separated.

The Truth about Online Credit Card Approval

Morgan Hamilton asked:

With the credit card industry developing at such unprecedented rate, more and more people are experiencing the so-called credit card hype. In fact, in the U.S. alone, the average household gets to receive at least two credit card applications in a day.

What happens next is that consumers have the propensity to get into information overload, and so, they do not have any time to meticulously scrutinize each application that they receive.

Moreover, because of having too many credit card application forms thriving on the mailboxes every single day, they find it hard to make clear choices. In fact, according to some surveys, 75% of credit card users admit that they do not read the fine print at all.

That is why when the information technology had taken its fair share in the industry, things were definitely better. This is because the credit card industry, along with the consumers, is so overwhelmed with the fact that everything can come on an instant using the Internet.

For this reason, the online credit approval programs of most credit card companies seem to be the most practical technique that was ever created. Many people find it feasible to use online credit card approvals than to exert extra effort to personally apply for credit, only to find out that they will be rejected in the end.

The Concept behind the Screen

Online credit approvals works the same way as the typical application forms. The only difference is that these things are not hard copies.

However, one of the best things about this program is that it lets the consumers have the time to analyze the credit card offers and see if it will work for them.

Basically, there is nothing special about online credit card approval. The interested person just have to supply the necessary information on the online application form, wait for a few minutes (usually within 60 seconds), and, when approved, the consumer just have to wait for his or her card.

But the best thing about it is that the bank can instantly check on a particular person’s identity and credit score. If ever the score meets the requirement, instant approval will be provided and the credit card will be processed as soon as possible.

So for those who wish to know the advantages of having an online credit card approval, here is a list of some possible benefits that they can get from this program:

1. No messy applications

With online credit card approval, people can almost be sure of a safe and smooth transaction. There are no too many papers to trash or too many brochures to pile. Everything is done in just a few minutes and the status is instantly known if the application was approved or not.

2. Instant verification and comparison

There is no better way to get the best deal from a credit card but to have it compared to the others. In this way, the interested person can see the difference among credit cards, which gives him the ability to identify the best credit card deal.

3. Numerous benefits from the issuing bank

With this program, consumers can easily tap the available exclusive benefits provided for online applicants. There are instances wherein the banks will instantly give their new credit card users some amount from the credit line that they have provided.

These are just a few of the many benefits that consumers can get with online credit card approval. It is the best thing the credit card industry could ever have.

Indeed, with online credit card approval, there is nothing in the world that money would not have a value for it. Online credit card approval simply makes great things possible.

College Football Predictions – 2010 Clemson Tigers

Greg C Nelson asked:

The Clemson Tigers went 9-5 on College Football Picks in 2009 and the team will not be as nearly as talented as they were at the skilled positions in the C.J. Spiller era but the team stall has a chance to return to the ACC championship game. Second year coach Dabo Sweeney had a nice coaching debut last year but has his work cut out for him this season. Clemson went 9-5 in 2009, losing the ACC title game 39-34 to Georgia Tech but ended the season by beating Kentucky in the Music City Bowl 21-13. The tigers were 9-5 against the spread, going over the betting total odds 8 times and under 6 times. The Clemson offense scored a little over 31 points per game and that was 28th in the nation. The offense as a whole ranked 74th in College football averaging 362.4 yards per game but a lot of that production will be missing now that spiller is gone. The defense ranked 20th nationally giving up 314.3 yards per contest and allowed 20.4 points per game. The pass defense was exceptionally good ranking 7th in the country.

In addition to replacing Spiller the Tigers may also be without the quarterback who led them to the ACC Atlantic division title last season. Kyle parker had a great baseball season and there is a strong possibility he could call it quits on the gridiron to concentrate on a pro baseball career. If Parker does return he will have 7 returning starters who made at least 6 starts in 2009, four of them offensive lineman, if Parker decides to pursue his baseball career, redshirt freshman Taj Boyd will probably be under center. Running Back Andre Ellington showed flashes last season rushing for 491 yards on just 68 carries and Jamie Harper had 418 yards on 80 carries. Wide receiver Jacoby Ford will also be missed and Clemson will be counting on Xavier Dye and Terrance Ashe at that position.

The 2010 Clemson Tigers defense will be strong on the defensive line and in the secondary but the linebackers will be tested often. DeAndrea McDaniel has superstar written all over him and will be a Thorpe award candidate as well as one of the best defensive players in the ACC. T Jarvis Jenkins and Da’Quan Bowers are 2 of 3 starters returning on the defensive line. Brandon Maye had 96 tackles last season but is the only proven linebacker. This sports handicapper believes Clemson will go 7-5 overall in 2010.

Credit Card Applications – Getting Accepted

Joseph Kenny asked:

Although they can be painful at times, life today without the ease of a credit card is no longer a reality. So, if you think you want a credit card, here are some essential factors you’ll need to consider when applying for a credit card:

Your Credit History

One of the most essential elements to applying for a credit card is what you current credit history is.

* If you have a bad credit history, then it is going to be much harder applying for a credit card.

* If you have a good credit history, then it is going to be much easier applying for a credit card.

* If you have no credit history, then you may well need to create a credit history, by having a loan or hire-purchase agreement, before you can apply for a credit card.

If you’re in any doubt what your credit history may be, then you should apply for a copy of your credit history. You can do this by applying for a copy of your credit history from a credit reference agency – who may charge you a small sum for providing this to you.

Credit Card Limit

Having discovered that you have a good enough credit history to apply for a credit card, the next thing you need to do is to decide on how much of a credit line you want to apply for. Normally, what your income is will decided this – but sometime your savings can also be important.

Depending on what your income and savings are, you can then apply for a regular credit card, gold credit card, or platinum credit card.

Submitting Your Credit Card Application Form

You now need to go through the process of choosing which credit provider meets your needs. Once you have done this, you can then submit an application to that credit card company.

Once the credit card company you have applied to has reviewed your application form, they’ll either approve your application or ask you to comply with certain conditions. The type of conditions they may ask you to comply with include asking you to have some money on a deposit account with them.

Credit Card Application Is Refused

If your application for a credit card is refused, you must ask why. If you don’t, you’ll never know whether the application has been refused because you failed the credit rating test or because you completed the application form wrong!

If you failed the credit rating test, then you know you need to apply for a credit card with another credit card provider. However, if it is because you filled in the form wrong, you can still reapplying using a correctly completed application form. So don’t be shy to ask “why?” if the credit card provider tells you that you failed in your credit card application!

Credit Card Generator

John Case asked:

In this economy some people are doing things they would not normally do in order to stay afloat. One of these things is experimenting with illegal things such as credit card number generators. While these generators are almost always used for bad things, there are some instances where they have a legitimate use. Testing software programs is probably the most legitimate use that a credit card number generator will ever see.

If you don’t already know what a credit card generator is, it is just piece of software that makes a 13 to 16 digit number that you can use to purchase products. You can also use this generator to check your shopping cart on your e-commerce site to make sure that everything is working properly. E-commerce sites often have credit card verification filters in order to prevent users from accidentally entering in a wrong number.

Since accepting a wrong number could cost your company time and money, being able to test your system before it goes life is vital to the success of your company. This is where the number generator can really help in a legal way.

You can actually download these generators online. Although I must stress that you should only get one of these generators if you plan to use if for a legitimate purpose, like the one described above. In order to use these generators you will need to know JavaScript or PHP. However, don’t be deterred because it sounds too technical. These programs come with detailed instructions that your grandma would understand.

Credit Cards for Minors?

Debbie Dragon asked:

In the United States, people under the age of 18 cannot legally enter into any contracts without a co-signer, but what about the increasing number of parents who are getting credit cards in their children’s names? Do minors really need access to credit cards?

It’s really a decision that is unique to each family. The most common reasons parents may decide to get a credit card in the name of their child include:

For emergencies Letting the child (probably a teenager) do their own school shopping Purchasing lunch and other necessities while out with friends For traveling (perhaps the child visits family members regularly)

When you are deciding whether or not to get your child a credit card, you’ll want to think about their age and maturity level. An elementary school student has very limited knowledge of what money is and how people get money. On the other hand, a teenager often has a better concept of how money is earned and what it’s used for, and could be taught appropriate use of a credit card.

Many parents like the idea of getting their teenager a credit card in order to start teaching them about financial responsibility. If this is your goal, then obviously you don’t want to hand the credit card to your child and let them have at it! You’ll need to spend some time discussing the reasons for the child to have a credit card, set limits, and discuss how payments will be made with the card. Will your teenager be responsible for paying back the charges made to the card? If so, be sure you and your child discuss this as well.

Alternatives to Credit Cards

What parents may want to consider instead of an actual interest-bearing credit card is a debit card. Setting your teenager up with a bank account with a debit card teaches them to spend money they actually have, rather than spending money and paying for it later. It is up to you how the bank account itself is funded, but some parents have set up “direct deposits” for their children’s allowance- which the child accesses using their debit card.

A “Charge Card” is another good option for the younger crowd. While they can be used to charge purchases, you cannot carry a balance from month to month on the card and must make the payment in full each month. This will teach your child responsibility for “charging”- provided you don’t just pay it off each month for them without some discussion or maybe requiring the teenager to use their part time job or babysitting money to make the payments.

If you decide you want to get a credit card, charge card, or debit card for your own child, be sure you look into the rules of such an account with the provider you want to go with. Some credit card companies restrict the “additional cards” to people of a minimum age; while others allow anyone of any age to be the secondary card holder. Same goes for charge cards. For debit card accounts, there are banks that offer youth checking or savings accounts with debit cards that are specifically geared to the needs of teenagers. That might be your best option for instilling financial responsibility in your children.

How to Use Credit Cards, Charge Cards or Debit Cards to Teach Financial Responsibility to Children

When getting a card issued in your child’s name, it’s important that you spend some time with the child teaching them the basics. Don’t take for granted that they will already have this knowledge. If the goal is to use the cards for teaching financial responsibility, here are some things to consider:

Teach your children not to lend their cards to friends for any reason Review bank statements together monthly and compare receipts with purchases made on the statement Teach children to pay more than the minimum payment – and teach them why that’s important! Discuss what a credit score is and how it affects people in life

Credit Card Applications: Is It Safe To Apply Online?

Ed Vegliante asked:

Are you wanting to apply for a new credit card but feeling hesitant to perform the credit card application online? If so, you need not be concerned. Advances in the technology of secure e-commerce have made online credit card applications literally safer than filling out a paper application and mailing it through the US Postal Service. Here’s why.

SSL Technology

First, banking institutions that offer online credit card applications use the most up-to-date technology to ensure that their web sites are protected against intrusion and data theft. This technology is known as SSL, which stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a transmission protocol that “encrypts” any data sent between the bank and your computer, such as all the personal information you need to fill out when applying for a credit card.

Encryption

What exactly is encryption? It is a sophisticated mathematical process that disguises data by altering the bits of information in ways that are undecipherable to others. You have probably done encryption in your childhood days when you sent messages to friends in school using a secret language such as reversing the alphabet, so that A meant Z, and Z meant A. That early game was actually a form of encryption.

In the early days of the Internet, encryption used 40-bits, which meant that a character of data could be transformed into another character in any one of 2 to the 40th power ways, which is approximately 1 trillion ways. But as large as that number is, computer security experts realized that people, including criminals, who had access to very powerful computers could crack 40-bit encryption in a short period of time, ranging from a few days to a few seconds depending on the power of their computers.

Therefore, in the late 1990s, a much more powerful type of encryption was introduced using 128 bits. This means that each character of data can be altered in any of 2 to the 128th power ways, a code which represents an astronomical number of possible variations that would take on the order of 20,000 years to break using today’s fastest computers. The use of 128-bit encryption has thus completely altered the safety of data.

Two Encryption Keys Required

Furthermore, today’s encryption methods use what is called the “two-key” algorithm whereby the sending computer and the receiving computer use both a “public” key and a “private” key to encrypt and then decrypt any data exchanged between them. The process is complex to explain, but suffice it to say that the two-key approach makes it impossible for all intents and purposes for an outside party such as a criminal to capture and interpret any data transmitted between two computers over an Internet site using SSL technology – because the criminals will not have both keys.

Online Credit Card Applications – No Safer Method

In short, SSL technology virtually guarantees that if you fill out a credit card application over the Internet using a bank’s secure application page, all your personal information can never be stolen or broken into.

Compare this to a paper credit card application which you send via the US Post Office. Think about how many mailboxes are broken into each year and how many pieces of mail are somehow lost – and you will now realize that applying for a credit card over the Internet is actually the most secure method you can find.

So if you want or need a new credit card in order to expand your credit capabilities or to get bonus points or travel rewards, the best thing to do is to go to one of the web sites that allows you to compare credit card offers, then click through to the secure web site for the bank you choose to fill out their online credit card application. You will also benefit from this because your application will be processed within minutes and you can often get an immediate approval rather than waiting weeks as you do when you mail in a paper application.

All in all, rest assured that computer security experts are working hard to protect consumers from crime and identity theft as Internet banking, e-commerce, and credit card payments are increasingly processed online.

Common Football Penalties Players Should Know

Joseph Pressley asked:

Sports are different recreational activities created to test an individual’s skills and talents. It is created not only for the mere purpose of fun but they are also created to bring out the best of an individual. When you talk about benefits, there are lists of health benefits one can get out of playing a certain type of sport. Remember that the body and the mind are working altogether as you play a sport and that alone makes an individual physically and mentally fit.

You can choose from the categories of sports depending upon your choice and your skills as well. There are water sports, indoor and outdoor and even extreme sports. The most important thing of all is that you have full time dedication to your chosen sport. If you want to become successful and be famous, you have to at least exert effort in practicing and in learning routines, the rules and new techniques. It may be very difficult at first but once you get a hang of it, you will already find it easy and worth it. This can also be applied when you are still learning how to use the tazer gun and as soon as you have mastered how to use it well, you will then learn to value it and see its worth.

Football is one famous sport played by the toughest men in the world. Why tough? Because they have to be strong in order for them not to easily fall down and be defeated. It is a tough team sport that rivals baseball as the most popular athletic event for spectators in any country. Millions of people are watching football games due to the fact that they are often accompanied by halftime shows with marching bands and alumni and fun club gatherings.

This type of sport is basically an autumn sport with teams playing from 8 to 16 games usually occurring on successive weekends. Each team must have 11 players on the field at a time. Teams are allowed to substitute their players between play without restrictions. This is a time sport. The team who gets to have most points at the end of the time period wins the game. Just like basketball, it is divided into 4 periods or quarter having a long half time between the second and the third quarter. Just imagine how players are deeply pressured as they play the game.

Like any other game, football has its own set of rules as well. If these rules are not followed, penalties will be served just the same as how an individual will be charged with several penalties if he illegally uses the dog tazer. Players should have knowledge on these so they will know what to prevent as they play the game.

The most common types of penalties are false start which means the player moves prior to the snap. Offside penalty is given to the player either defense or offense when he is on the wrong side of the line of scrimmage of the snap. Holding is given to a player when he tackles another player. Facemask is used to protect the face that is why it is illegal if another player tries to pull it off.

Players are also not allowed to run after kickers and quarterbacks especially when they have already thrown the ball. And intentional grounding is given to the player when he intentionally pass the ball nowhere near the receiver just to avoid being sacked. All of these are important penalties that can be given if you will not follow the right way to play the game.
